Dental Hygiene

At Ralston Creek Dental, we help our patients to have good oral health. We mainly focus on preventative dental care through which we understand and know each of our patients. We want them to keep their permanent adult teeth healthy for life by following strict oral hygiene habits to prevent cavities, infections, gum disease, etc.

Here are some of the tips that can help you have healthy teeth:

Brush Your Teeth Properly

Everyone already knows the necessity of brushing teeth, while it is essential to note that you need to brush your teeth properly. Use a soft-bristled toothbrush that won’t irritate your gums or erode your teeth’ enamel. Using a hard-bristled toothbrush will end up causing more harm than good. Make sure to use fluoride toothpaste to protect your teeth from cavities. Most importantly, brush your teeth twice a day. It is essential to change your toothbrush or toothbrush head every three to four months.

Make Flossing a Habit

At Ralston Creek Dental, we always ensure to remind our patients how important it is to floss between teeth. Floss your teeth once a day every day to get rid of food particles and plaque that are stuck between your teeth and cannot be removed through brushing. If not removed, then over time, they made lead to gum disease, which may affect your oral and overall health.

Select the Right Mouthwash

Use a sugar-free mouthwash and also one that contains fluoride, as it will kill the bad bacteria in your mouth while making your teeth strong. Using it at least once a day can reduce your risk of developing cavities and gum disease.

Rinse Your Mouth After Every Meal

It may be hard to brush your teeth after every meal, so it would be better to at least rinse your mouth with water. This will help to flush out food particles and sugar to an extent.

A Fluoride Treatment May Help

Fluoride treatments have proven to reduce the risk of developing cavities by 30%. In this process, the dentist applies fluoride to the teeth.

Eat Healthy to be Healthy

Avoid drinking beverages that contain sugar in abundance like soda, juice, coffee, etc. Limit the consumption of candy, desserts, etc. Add more green leafy vegetables, dairy, or nuts to your diet for remineralizing and strengthening your teeth.

Visit Your Dentist

Visit our dental office for your regular dental check-up twice a year. Our dentist will remove all the hard-to-remove plaque build-up and tartar from your teeth and keep your mouth healthy.
